Affordable Living Room Makeover using rust-oleum Milk paint
Updated: Jun 15, 2021
Hey y'all!
As you know I've been helping my sister with updating the rooms in her D.C. row home.
We are starting with her living room area which was feeling very dated. Most importantly the space didn't feel true to my sister's style.
We started the update by flipping the large bookcase in the space. We used Rust-oleum milk paint in the shade Eclipse to paint the piece. This paint was really easy to use and has a nice finish. I also love that this paint doesn't require prep or a follow up step to seal.
We then moved to updated the walls using a neutral gray. This new color definitely brightened the space and amplified the natural light that comes in through the windows. We then decided to switched out the throw pillows, added a new washable rug, and repurposed a beautiful high back chair from her room ( she's making way for a new spin bike).
These touches really made the difference, painting several of the original elements like the bookcase and her interior door really made these pieces look more contemporary.
