DMV Things to Do: Rocklands Farm Winery

Updated: May 7, 2021

Hey there beautiful people,

I don't know about anyone else but even though I'm happy to be safe and healthy I'm going a little stir crazy. It feels like so much has changed this year including the ways we go out and have fun. I've been staying close to home and not traveling as freely as I used to which has lead to finding fun things to do in my own backyard .

One of the places I recently visited is Rocklands Farm Winery . This winery is about a 45 min drive from DC and is a huge property. There were tons of people when we arrived to the property which made me a little nervous at first but the Rocklands Farm staff did a great job at making sure everyone was socially distant and orderly.

We went on a Saturday late afternoon which is apparently as busy as they get, So I'd recommend arriving at opening if you want to go on the weekend or planning a weekday visit if you want less people. The farm is HUGE so that allowed the many patrons to be outside and distant from one another while enjoying the beautiful landscape.

There are plenty of spaces to picnic if your want to bring your own chairs and blankets and there are also tables and chairs on the property ( the line for the onsite seating moves pretty quickly ). Outside food is allowed but there are a variety of food trucks depending on the day. Tip: Arrive early if you want to purchase from the food trucks as food options can run out.

The wines options themselves were actually really good and the store front also sells cheese, chocolate and crackers for making your own charcuterie.

I'd highly recommend the honey blossom white wine, it is really tasty and would convert even die hard red wine lovers.
